India Submits 7th National Report to Convention on Biological Diversity
India has recently submitted its 7th National Report (NR7) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), presenting a national assessment of progress towards global biodiversity targets for 2030.
- It is the first comprehensive evaluation after the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) in 2022.
What is the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)?
- An international environmental treaty adopted in 1992 at the Rio Earth Summit.
- Aims to conserve biodiversity, ensure sustainable use of biological resources, and share benefits fairly.
- Member countries must submit periodic national reports on conservation progress.
