INS Arnala
On June 18, 2025, the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC), ‘Arnala’, indigenously designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, was commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.
- INS Arnala has been built by GRSE in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Shipyard under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
- The name ‘Arnala’ commemorates the strategic maritime importance given by the great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Arnala Island (located about 13 km north of Vasai, Maharashtra).
