Blue Ports
- On 18th September 2025, the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, signed a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to strengthen Blue Port infrastructure in India.
- Blue Ports are smart and sustainable fishing harbours that integrate advanced technologies (AI, 5G, IoT, automation) with eco-friendly features to ensure economic efficiency, social inclusion, and environmental stewardship.
- Under this framework, three Smart & Integrated Fishing Harbours are being developed at Jakhau (Gujarat), Vanakbara (Diu), and Karaikal (Puducherry) with an investment of ₹369.80 crores under PMMSY.
