Mission Purvodaya

  • Recently, the government launched Mission Purvodaya in order to strengthen steel sector in the Eastern region
  • It aims at accelerated development of eastern India through establishment of Integrated Steel Hub.
  • Despite being endowed with rich natural resources (iron ore, bauxite, coking coal, etc.), eastern region of the country has lagged behind in socio-economic development as compared to some other parts of the country.
  • The proposed Integrated Steel Hub will consist of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Northern Andhra Pradesh.
