Codex Commission Adopts Three Indian Spice Standards
At the 49th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC49), held from 6-10 July 2026, in Geneva (Switzerland), three global Codex standards for Large Cardamom, Coriander and Vanilla, finalised by the India-hosted Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH), were formally adopted.
Why is the New Codex Standards Important?

- Reduce technical barriers in international trade.
- Improve consumer confidence through uniform quality standards.
- Enhance export opportunities for Indian spice producers.
