Foundation of Amaravati Quantum Valley under National Quantum Mission

In February 2026, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh laid the foundation stone of the Amaravati Quantum Centre in Andhra Pradesh, positioning the state as a key hub under India’s Rs.6,000 crore National Quantum Mission.

  • The initiative aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in quantum computing, communication, sensing, metrology, and quantum materials under a whole-of-government, whole-of-nation framework.
  • The National Quantum Mission spans 43 institutions across 17 states and 2 Union Territories, with a target to develop quantum computers with up to 1,000 qubits and establish a 2,000 km quantum communication network.
