‘Vanjeevi Didi’ Initiative

On 17th February 2026, the South Division of Palamu Tiger Reserve launched the ‘Vanjeevi Didi’ initiative across 17 villages.

  • The initiative aims to train educated women as ambassadors for forest conservation.
  • Most participants are graduates or currently pursuing higher education.
  • Vanjeevi Didis will motivate families to prevent forest destruction.
  • Women are expected to influence households against wildlife crimes.
  • Selected participants will receive Rs.3,000 monthly incentive initially for two months.
  • Vanjeevi Didis will also support primary education in villages.
  • They will share government employment and development information locally.
