Anti-Conversion Law implemented in Rajasthan

  • On 8th October 2025, Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Bagde approved the Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2025.
  • Under this law, priests or clerics performing interfaith marriages must inform the district administration at least two months in advance.
  • Couples must notify the district magistrate at least three months before marriage.
  • Failure to comply will lead to penalties for “forced conversion” — imprisonment from 7 to 14 years and fines starting at ₹5 lakh.
  • If the victim belongs to a protected group (woman, minor, SC, or ST), punishment increases up to 20 years in prison and at least ₹10 lakh ....
