On 20th December 2025, the President of India gave assent to the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill, 2025, marking a sweeping overhaul of India's nuclear energy legal framework.
- The new legislation replaces the Atomic Energy Act, 1962 and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010.
