Aerogel
Aerogel is an extremely light, porous, and synthetic solid material, often called "frozen smoke" or "solid smoke." Its density is so low that more than 99% of its volume is air. Aerogel is primarily made from a gel in which the liquid component is replaced with a gas, resulting in a solid yet extremely light and porous structure.
Important Facts
- Density: Aerogel's density can range from 0.0011 to 0.5 g/cm³, making it one of the lightest solid materials in the world.
- Structure: It has a three-dimensional network-like structure with tiny pores, mostly filled with air.
- Thermal Insulator: Aerogel is the world's best ....
