Cyberattacks: Methods and Impact
India’s infrastructure — particularly healthcare, power grids, banking, and government services — is increasingly facing targeted cyberattacks. These attacks use methods such as malware, DDoS, phishing, ransomware, and data theft, leading to service disruptions, data breaches, and threats to national security.
Methods of Attack
- Malware: Hackers have used malware such as CrimsonRAT and MeshAgent to target Indian infrastructure. These infiltrate systems to steal data, disrupt networks, and gain access to sensitive information.
- Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks: Websites and servers are bombarded with excessive traffic to temporarily shut them down, affecting availability of public services such as healthcare and power grids.
