Space domain awareness refers to the comprehensive understanding and monitoring of all activities, objects, and environmental factors in space.

  • Asia’s First SDA Centre (2024): In April 2024, Asia’s first dedicated Space Domain Awareness Command and Control Centre was established in Bengaluru.
  • The centre manages space traffic and debris monitoring, with participation from ISRO and private players (like Digantara).
  • Indian Space Situational Assessment Report (ISSAR) 2023: Released by ISRO in April 2024, analyzing the status of 50+ Indian operational satellites, collision risks, and growth in space debris (3,143 new global objects).
