Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS)
This is an advanced underwater imaging technology that uses sonar (Sound Navigation and Ranging) to create high-resolution images of the seabed or submerged objects.
Applications
- Mine Neutralization: SAS detects sea mines with 2 cm resolution.
- Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW): SAS detects submarines and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs).
- Hypersonic Missile Defence: SAS-enabled UUVs provide early warning for submarine-launched missiles.
- Maritime Piracy Monitoring: SAS tracks small boats, drones, and submerged equipment.
