UNHRC Resolution on Plastic Pollution and Ocean Protection
On 4th April 2025, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a groundbreaking resolution recognizing the critical link between plastic pollution, ocean protection, and the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
A Shift in International Environmental Governance
- This resolution marks the first time UN member states have collectively acknowledged the integration of human rights obligations into global responses to the environmental and health harms caused by plastic throughout its life cycle.
