Regional Meteorological Centre
On 5th June 2026, Centre inaugurated the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir).
- The Jammu centre has become India's seventh Regional Meteorological Centre and will serve Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
- The centre will provide district-level weather forecasts, mountain weather forecasts, city-specific forecasts and tourist advisories.
- It will strengthen early warning systems for flash floods, cloudbursts, avalanches, heavy snowfall, thunderstorms and landslides in the Himalayan region.
- The services will benefit pilgrims, farmers, transport operators, hydropower projects, disaster management agencies and security ....
