E100 Fuel Regulations Approved

On 13th June 2026, the government announces that it has approved regulations permitting vehicles to operate on E100 fuel, marking a major step in expanding the use of ethanol-based fuels beyond the existing E20 programme.

What is E100 Fuel?

  • E100 refers to fuel containing 100% ethanol with no petrol blending.
  • Ethanol is a renewable biofuel primarily produced from:
    • Sugarcane molasses
    • Sugarcane juice
    • Damaged food grains
    • Maize and other agricultural feedstocks
  • It burns cleaner than conventional fossil fuels and can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
