New Gecko Species Discovered in Assam
In April 2026, a new species of bent-toed gecko, Cyrtodactylus raimonaensis, was discovered in Kokrajhar district near Raimona National Park.
- The species has been named after Raimona National Park, highlighting the region’s rich biodiversity.
- Bent-toed geckos (Cyrtodactylus) are a diverse group of lizards widely distributed across Asia.
