Blood Moon

On 8^th September 2025, stargazers across Asia, Australia, and parts of Africa witnessed a rare Blood Moon, a total lunar eclipse that painted the Moon red.

• The phenomenon happens when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, blocking direct sunlight — only red light, filtered through Earth’s atmosphere, reaches the lunar surface.
• This red glow is caused by Rayleigh scattering, the same effect behind the blue colour of the sky and the orange-red hues of sunrises and sunsets.
