New Wolf Spider Species: Piratula acuminata
Scientists from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) discovered Piratula acuminata, a new species of wolf spider.
- This is the first record of the genus Piratula in India.
- Found on Sagar Island, part of the ecologically fragile Sundarbans delta.
- Belongs to the family Lycosidae — commonly known as wolf spiders.
- Notable for being agile, nocturnal, and web-less ambush predators.
