Weather Forecast for 2026: Below-Normal Rainfall and Rising Temperatures
- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast below-normal rainfall over most parts of the country during July 2026.
- At the national level, July rainfall is expected to remain below 94% of the Long Period Average (LPA).
- Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain above normal across most regions, leading to increased heat stress and higher electricity demand.
- Rainfall distribution is expected to remain uneven; parts of northwestern, northeastern, and east-central India may receive normal or above-normal rainfall.
- Weak El Niño conditions may strengthen during the monsoon season, while the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is expected to remain neutral.
