Shankaracharya Jayanti Celebrated in Kashmir

  • Shankaracharya Jayanti was celebrated at Jyeshta Mata Mandir, Shankaracharya Hills, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, from 3rd – 9th May, 2019.
  • Pandits of Kashmir performed Suvasini Puja on this occasion.
  • On the instructions of the Kanchi Acharyas, Shankaracharya Jayanti is being celebrated on Shankaracharya Hills since 2012. This year, a 150-member team left with the blessings of the Kanchi Kamakoti Pitam, to conduct Acharya’s Jayanti.
Shankaracharya
  • Born in Kalady (Kerala), he propounded the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta.
  • He composed 72 devotional and meditative hymns like Soundarya Lahari, Sivananda Lahari, Nirvana Shalkam, Maneesha Panchakam.
  • He founded four mathas - one each at the four cardinal ....
