Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the new chairman of the Somnath temple trust. Shree Somnath Trust manages the famous Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath district, Gujarat.

- The existing temple, considered the seventh one, is built in the Kailas Mahameru Prasad style and India’s first deputy Prime Minister Sardar Patel was behind its construction.
