Report on Police Training, Modernisation and Reforms
On 10th February, 2022, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs released a report on police training, modernisation and reforms.
The report emphasises the number of improvements that are required as well as the obstacles that police forces confront.
Key Highlights
Under-representation of Women
- Women are abysmally underrepresented in the police force, constituting only 10.3 percent of the police force.
- The committee recommends that the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) may advise states and UTs to create a roadmap for making the representation of women police to 33 percent of the total strength a reality.
