Rakhigarhi to be Developed as an Iconic Site
In a significant boost to India’s cultural and historical preservation, Finance Minister announced in the Budget that Rakhigarhi in Haryana will be developed as one of the country’s 15 Iconic Archaeological Sites.
- Rakhigarhi is located in the Hisar district of Haryana.
- It is situated on the banks of the now-dry Saraswati (Ghaggar–Hakra) river system.
- It is considered the largest Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) site in India and one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in the subcontinent.
