Raja Parba Celebrated in Rashtrapati Bhavan
On 14th June, 2024, President attended Odisha's agricultural festival 'Raja Parba' celebration at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Notably, President Murmu is from Odisha's tribal community and it is the first agriculture-based festival of Odisha, which was celebrated at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- This celebration witnessed cultural performances including 'Mayurbhanj Chhau', 'Sambalpuri' and 'Karma' dances.
About Raja Parba
- Raja Parba is Odisha’s three-day unique festival celebrating the onset of monsoon and the earth’s womanhood.
- It is believed that during this time the Mother Earth or Bhudevi undergoes menstruation.
- During this period all agricultural operations remain suspended as a mark of respect towards the Earth.
