Udant Martand
Hindi Journalism Day is observed annually on 30 May every year to commemorate the launch of Udant Martand, India's first Hindi newspaper.
- It was first published on May 30, 1826.
- It was published from Calcutta under the editorship of Pandit Jugal Kishore Shukla.
- It was printed in Devanagari script and written in a mixture of Khari Boli and Braj Bhasha so that Hindi speakers from different regions could understand it.
- The newspaper published local news, social commentary, and articles of general interest.
- It aimed to inform Hindi-speaking people and connect them with important discussions taking place in the country.
- The newspaper ceased operations after only 18 ....
