Hieun Tsang
Recently, in a significant step towards strengthening cultural diplomacy, India and China are in talks to jointly nominate ‘The Great Tang Records on the Western Regions’ authored by Xuanzang (Hiuen Tsang), Chinese Buddhist monk and scholar, for recognition by UNESCO.
About Hieun Tsang
- Also known as Xuanzang, he was a Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, translator and traveller who visited India during the 7th century CE.
Visit to India
- He travelled from China to India to study at Nalanda University, collect authentic Buddhist manuscripts and visit places associated with the life of Buddha.
