International Abhidhamma Divas
On 17th October, 2024, Prime Minister addressed the ceremony in celebration of International Abhidhamma Divas at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, hosted by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC).
- International Abhidhamma Divas, observed globally, celebrates this philosophical cornerstone, recognizing its timeless relevance in guiding ethical conduct and mental discipline.
Historical Background and Significance
- Abhidhamma Divas commemorates the day when Lord Buddha descended from the celestial realm, Tāvatiṃsa-devaloka, to Sankassiya (now Sankisa Basantapur) in Uttar Pradesh.
