Poland to Join NATO’s Fuel Pipeline Network

On 3rd October 2025, Poland announced it will join NATO’s 10,000-km fuel pipeline network, over 25 years after joining the alliance.

  • The NATO Pipeline System transports fuel and lubricants for tanks and aircraft to areas where troops may need them during wartime.
  • Poland had been outside the system since its Warsaw Pact days, leaving bases near Russia and Belarus without direct access.
  • A €4.7-billion plan includes building a 300-km pipeline from Germany to the Bydgoszcz base, home to NATO’s joint force training centre.
