The vibrant Dhanu Yatra was recently held from 27th December 2022 to 6th January 2023 in Bargarh, Odisha.

About the Festival

  • ‘Dhanu Yatra’ festival is considered to be the world’s largest open-air theatre.
  • It marks the victory of good over evil and came into existence in Bargarh in 1947-48 as part of the celebration of the country’s Independence and is held annually.
  • The theatrical performance is based on the stories of Lord Krishna.
  • For the performance, Bargarh and nearby places are transformed into Mathura and other places into Lord Krishna stories.
