Recently, the Prime Minister highlighted Narasapuram (Narsapur) lace craft in Narsapur of West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, during his 129th “Mann Ki Baat” broadcast.
About the Craft
- Narsapuram Lace Craft is a traditional handmade crochet lace craft in which fine threads are transformed into delicate lace products using a single crochet hook.
- The craft reflects a high level of skill, precision and patience.
- It was awarded the Geographical Indication tag in 2024.
Region
- The craft is practiced mainly in the West Godavari and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh.
