Recently, the President of India extended greetings on the occasion of the historic ‘Baliyatra’ festival to the people of Odisha.
- Baliyatra festivals in Odisha marks the culmination of all the religious festivities held in the month of Kartik.
- It is held on the full moon day in November-December that is celebrated all over Odisha as Kartik Purnima.
- Baliyatra, literally ‘voyage to Bali’ is one of the country’s largest open-air fares.
- It is organised every year to commemorate the 2,000-year-old maritime and cultural links between ancient Kalinga (today’s Odisha) and Bali and other South and Southeast Asian regions like Java, Sumatra, ....
