Sengol
On 28th May, 2023, during the inauguration ceremony of the New Parliament House, Prime Minister installed the Sengol, a historical sceptre from Tamil Nadu, near the chair of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
- The Sengol was kept at Allahabad Museum in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh after it was given to Jawaharlal Nehru.
- On November 4, 2022 it was shifted to the National Museum, Delhi.
About Sengol
- Sengol is a historical sceptre that holds significant cultural and historical value in Tamil Nadu.
- Derived from the Tamil word “Semmai,” meaning “Righteousness,” Sengol represents a symbol of justice and good governance.
