Parasnath Hills
On 3rd May 2025, noting State's acceptance of Parasnath Hill being "sacred religious place" to the Jain Community, the Jharkhand High Court directed enforcement of a 2023 memorandum which prohibits sale or consumption of liquor, serving of non-vegetarian food and stay plans for tourism and eco-tourism activities.
About Parasnath Hills
- Parasnath Hill is the highest peak in Jharkhand (1,365 m), located in the Giridih district (Jharkhnad).
- It is a sacred site for Jains and a holy place for the tribal Santal community.
- The hill is part of the Parasnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a protected area.
