Rare Butterfly Species Discovered in Arunachal Pradesh
- Neptis philyra, known as the long-streak sailor, was recently found for the first time in India in the Tale Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh.
- Previously known to inhabit various regions of East Asia, including eastern Siberia, Korea, Japan, central, and southwest China.
- The finding underscores the ecological richness of the northeastern region and India as a whole.
- Neptis philyra exhibits serrated wings with brownish-black upper sides and yellow-brown undersides, featuring distinctive markings resembling a "hockey stick" on the forewing.
