State of the Climate in Asia 2023 Report
On 23rd April, 2024, the World Meteorological Organization released a report, titled 'State of the Climate in Asia 2023'. The report underscores alarming trends in the region's climate, revealing a surge in extreme weather events and a widening gap between climate projections and adaptation capabilities.
Major Findings
- Asia has experienced a faster warming trend than the global average since 1960, leading to unprecedented climate extremes.
- In 2023, Asia faced severe floods, heatwaves, and storms, resulting in over 2,000 fatalities and affecting more than nine million people.
