India’s online gaming industry reached a major policy milestone after the government notified the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026, set to come into force from May 1, 2026. These rules operationalise the parent law passed last year and mark India’s first comprehensive national framework for regulating online gaming.
