Charaideo Moidams Included in World Heritage Sites List
On 26th July, 2024, Assam’s Charaideo Moidams burial site was added to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites list.
- The decision was taken during the 46th World Heritage Committee (WHC) session held in New Delhi from July 21-31, 2024.
Key Points
- First in Cultural Category:It is the first time a site from the North East has made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List under the Cultural Category.
- Third from Assam: This is the third World Heritage Property from Assam, following Kaziranga National Park and Manas Wildlife Sanctuary, both inscribed under the Natural category in 1985. ....
