Kautilya's Arthashastra

Recently, Chief Justice of India observed that roots of equality lie in Kautilya's Arthashastra, rather than the Magna Carta (1215).

Chanakya (Kautilya/Vishnugupta)

  • Chanakya (c. 350–275 BCE), also known as Kautilya and Vishnugupta, was an eminent philosopher, economist, jurist, and statesman of ancient India.
  • He later served as the Prime Minister and chief advisor to Chandragupta Maurya, the founder of the Mauryan Empire.
  • He is renowned as the author of the Arthashastra and Chanakya Neeti, two seminal works on governance, statecraft, and ethics.
