Indigenous Td Vaccine Launched
On 21st February 2026, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launched the indigenously manufactured Tetanus and Adult Diphtheria (Td) vaccine at the Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.
About the Launch
- The launch marks a major step toward national health security and vaccine self-reliance.
- The vaccine will be supplied under the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP).
- CRI will supply 55 lakh doses to UIP by April 2026.
- Production capacity will be scaled up in subsequent years.
What is the Td Vaccine?
- Td protects against tetanus and adult diphtheria infections.
- Replaces the earlier Tetanus Toxoid (TT) vaccine.
