Raja Khas: Himachal’s First Solar Model Village
On 27th May 2025, Raja Khas in Kangra district was selected as Himachal Pradesh’s first solar model village under a clean energy initiative.
- The village won the title after achieving the highest solar installation capacity — 3,700 kilowatts — among 43 villages in a six-month competition.
- A Rs 1 crore central government grant will fund solar-powered infrastructure in public places such as schools, health centres, community halls, and anganwadi centres.
- Solar street lights, water heaters, and a power plant will be set up to make the village energy self-sufficient.
