Twin Climate and Energy Crises: UN Calls for Urgent Global Action
On 23rd June 2026, addressing the London Climate Action Week, UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the world is facing twin climate and energy crises driven by continued dependence on fossil fuels. He called for a rapid transition to renewable energy, stronger methane reduction measures and enhanced climate finance to tackle the interconnected challenges.
- The warning comes amid intensifying climate disasters and an energy shock triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
