- 1 in 20 children under 5 years (5%) and 1 in 5 children and adolescents aged 5–19 years (20%) are overweight globally.
- Total number of children and adolescents (0–19 years) living with overweight: ~427 million.
- The number of overweight children aged 5–19 years has doubled from 194 million (2000) to 391 million (2022).
- The share of obesity among all overweight children has increased from 30% (2000) to 42% (2022) — now 163 million children are obese.
