Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming in India
On 2nd October 2025, the Centre notified the draft Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Rules 2025, setting out a comprehensive framework for regulating online gaming under the recently enacted Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 that bans online money games.
Key Provisions of the Act
Nationwide Applicability
- The Act extends across India and covers online money gaming services offered domestically or operated from abroad but accessible within the country.
Promotion of Positive and Safe Gaming
- E-Sports: The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports will frame guidelines, set up training academies, and establish research centres ....
