Steps toward Climate-Resilient Agriculture

  • To tackle climate change and make agriculture resource-efficient, the Government of India and ICAR organized the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' (Slogan: Save the Soil, Save Farming, Save the Farmer) from June 1 to June 30, 2026.
  • This campaign has now turned into a 'National Mission' to promote scientific nutrient management, Digital Soil Health Cards, and Climate-Smart Agriculture.
  • Imbalanced use of fertilizers (especially Nitrogen and DAP) has led to a deficiency of Nitrogen in 64% and organic carbon in 48.5% of Indian soil, disturbing the ecological balance.
