Shenzhou-12 Manned Mission: Astronauts Dock with Space Station
On 17th June, the first group of three Chinese astronauts entered the country’s under-construction space station, Tiangong.
Key Highlights
- The Shenzhou-12 spaceship, carrying the three astronauts, was launched from the Jiuquan Launch Centre in the Gobi desert and the astronauts entered core module Tianhe around six and a half hours later.
- The spaceship completed an “automated rendezvous and docking” with the Tianhe module.
- The Tianhe module, one of the three main components of the space station, was launched in April, while the second and third modules to complete the space station will also be launched in coming months.
