HD74423: The Star That Pulsates on One Side
Teams of astronomers from Sydney Institute for Astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre in Poland and some other institutes, acting on clues from citizen scientists, discovered a binary star in the Milky Way galaxy that pulsates on only one side- the first such stellar object to be identified.
HD74423
- The star, named HD74423, was discovered using NASA’s TESS Explorer satellite data which is hunting for planets around distant stars.
- It is about 1.7 times the mass of the Sun and is located 1500 light years from the Earth.
