DRDO Successfully Tests VSHORADS
On 1st February 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted three flight trials of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) from Chandipur off the coast of Odisha, demonstrating its precision in intercepting low-altitude aerial threats.
- VSHORADS is an advanced fourth-generation Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) developed indigenously by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with Indian industry partners.
- During the tests, the missile system intercepted and destroyed high-speed targets simulating low-flying drones, validating its operational capabilities.
