Novel Method for Mass Production of Recombinant Proteins Using MSG
On 30th May, 2024, researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) unveiled a novel method to mass produce recombinant proteins, including vaccine antigens and insulin, replacing hazardous methanol with mono-sodium glutamate (MSG).
- The new expression system aims to produce proteins for biotech industries, including milk and egg proteins, baby food supplements, nutraceuticals, and therapeutic molecules.
