ISRO-DBT MoU for Cooperation in Space Biotechnology
On 25th October 2024, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) partnered to develop experimental studies for the upcoming Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), India's indigenous space station projected to operate between 2028 and 2035.
- The ISRO-DBT agreement will enable the creation of bio-experiments designed for Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), aimed at advancing space research and biotechnology.
- Key experiments being developed include studying muscle loss in weightlessness, analyzing algae as a nutrient source, and evaluating its potential for food preservation in space.
